Advisory Board

Emmett (he/him) recently graduated from Yale, where he did a lot of theatre production and occasionally attended computer science classes. He currently spends his time scouting for bootleg Broadway recordings, trying new recipes exactly once, and taking care of his border collie puppy. Emmett also serves on the GAPA Board of Directors as GAPA's first trans board member.

Jasmine (she/her) is an active member of the SF Trans community. She has been member and Vice Co-chair of the Board of Directors of SF Trans March (2011-2018); Member of the Planning Committee for Trans Day of Remembrance; Member of Planning Committee for APIQWTC (Asian Pacific Islander Queer Women Transgender Community); and volunteer for many LGBTQ organizations.

Jasmin Hoo (she/her) is a community organizer at APIENC building the power and leadership of trans and queer API people. Over the past 15 years, she has worked with a breadth of Bay Area communities to create social change through education, theater, and activism. She has a M.A. in Equity and Social Justice in Education from San Francisco State University.

Crystal (she/her/ta) is a 4th generation American born Chinese, 3rd generation San Franciscan. Proud to be a “Community Auntie” with 6 decades of Community Activism. She retired From the SFUSD, after 40+ years as a Teacher, Counselor, Program manager and 1st openly Lesbian API teacher in the District. She also served as the 1st API Middle School Director for Support Services for GLBTQ Youth and Families, as well as Queer Families and Trans Inclusion Curriculum. In 1994, she coordinated the 1st Transgender workshop for SFUSD staff. She is a co-founder of OASIS (Older Asian Sisters in Solidarity) APIQWTC and the Red Envelope Giving Circle. Crystal tries to stay grounded and balanced with her practice of Taichi and playing Taiko. She and her "Honey", Sydney Yeong are proud parents to their daughter Cameron.

Michelle Meow (she/her) is the host and producer of "The Michelle Meow Show.” The program’s tag line is: ‘Your A-Z, covering the LGBT, LMNOP, and everyone in between.’ Michelle’s mission is constructing opportunities for people to listen in to deep conversations to develop understanding and empathy. Michelle’s show can be heard in San Francisco and nationally on the Progressive Voices Network and her local TV show can be seen on KBCW TV and Channel 44. She also produces programs at the iconic Commonwealth Club, where she has also serves on their Board of Governors. There, she is dedicated to conversations around social justice with an intersectional lens.

Mimi (she/her) is a drag queen who paints her face and swishes her hips to fundraise for the community. She is a former Miss GAPA and Empress of San Francisco. She holds a B.F.A. in Animation and VFX from Academy of Art University.

Anjali Rimi (she/they), born in India, is an Oakland-based community leader who puts her intersectionality into practice by striving for equity for those who face multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination. She leads as the president of ParivarBayArea, the only Trans-led and TGNCI-centered South Asian non-profit organization in the country. She is also the founder of DiversityJourneys Inc, and provides financial and operating guidance to Aravani Art Project, TransVision & MoitriSanjog. Anjali serves on The LGBT Asylum Project, East Bay Stonewall Democrats, and SF Pride as a board of directors along with serving as a special advisor to Office of Transgender Initiatives, SF, and Harvard Medical School.

Aria Villajin (she/her), also known by her stage name Pearl Teese, is a proud Black and Filipina trans woman, drag performer, program coordinator/advocate for a mental health organization in San Francisco, sister and friend. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Aria began doing drag before her transition, and has been entertaining for almost 10 years. Aria is graciously committed to her community and a passionate advocate for mental health, trans rights, and Black lives. She hopes her advocacy, authenticity and warmth inspires us to advocate for younger generations and those who need help.
