Get in the spirit of the season and join the GAPA Men's Chorus for a festive holiday concert. A Night Divine takes place on Friday, December 19th, 8:00 p.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1268 Clipper Street @ Sanchez, in San Francisco.
In this intimate full-length program, the Chorus will showcase its broad and versatile repertoire, providing a joyous celebration for everyone to enjoy! Starting off with classical pieces that highlight a harmonic blend of voices, the GAPA Men's Chorus will also present folk tunes, pop standards, and even rousing gospel-inspired songs. Adding to the holiday spirit, the audience can even join in on a round of Christmas carols (sung in Asian languages, of course!).
A significant cultural component of the Gay Asian Pacific Alliance, the GAPA Men's Chorus was formed in August 1989 to provide a showcase for the vocal musical talents of gay Asian Pacific men. Now gearing up for its 15th anniversary, the GAPA Men's Chorus is perhaps the first ethnically based gay choral group, but certainly the longest lasting and most enduring organization of its kind. Its multilingual repertoire includes songs in Mandarin, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Hawaiian, English, Latin, French and Italian.
Tickets for the show are $5, and include admission to a post-show reception. For reservations and additional information, please email: gapachorus@aol.com.
